The Algarve received an award in 2000 for being one of the world's best golfing destinations. The golfer has over 21 courses to choose from, many of them easily accessible from Faro. The 300 days of sunshine mean that the courses are open all year round. Some courses are more informal than others and require that golfers have a handicap rating, others do not.
